THE PHOTOGRAPHER
I’m Ashley - a photographer and creative director now based in the Algarve.
Over the past decade I’ve worked professionally across film, photography and visual storytelling, helping brands and people bring their stories to life. Earlier in my career I founded and ran a travel photography business documenting thousands of families and travellers around the world, which is where I learned that the best photographs almost never come from overthinking or forced moments.
What matters most is creating an environment where people feel comfortable, relaxed and free to be themselves. When that happens, the real moments appear naturally, and those are the images people fall in love with and keep coming back to.
MY APPROACH
Photography should feel easy — definitely not something you should stress about.
Too often people worry about having their photos taken and end up with stiff, forgettable images that don’t really capture who they are.
My approach is simple: create a relaxed atmosphere, guide gently when needed, and let the natural moments unfold. Whether we’re walking along the cliffs at sunset, exploring a town together, or documenting a celebration, I’m always looking for that split second of real emotion — the moment that truly captures how it felt to be there.
The goal isn’t just beautiful photographs. It’s an experience that feels natural, fun and effortless — and images that you’ll genuinely want to come back to again and again.
WHY I DO THIS
After many years working in the fast-paced startup world in London as a Chief Creative Officer, I felt a strong pull back to the kind of work that first made me fall in love with photography — meeting people, travelling, and capturing real moments as they naturally unfold.
I believe at its heart, photography is storytelling, not the perfectly posed moments, but the small, real ones in between. The laughter, the quiet connection, the feeling of being somewhere special together. Those are the moments that last.
Today I live in the Algarve with my wife and our young son. Life here has slowed down in the best possible way, and it’s a daily reminder that the moments we want to remember are often the simplest ones.
That perspective shapes how I approach every session: looking for honest moments, natural connection, and images that still feel real long after the day itself has passed.
Let’s Talk
If you’re considering a session — or simply exploring ideas — I’d love to hear from you.
Whether you know exactly what you’re looking for or you’re still figuring it out, a short conversation is always the best place to start. The work I’m most proud of has always begun by getting to know the people involved and understanding what matters to them.
Share a few details below — dates, ideas, questions — and I’ll personally reach out to arrange a call. From there, we’ll shape something that feels right for you.
